Hey friend,

Stetson here, co-founder of CoverageMap.

Today, we're excited to launch the all-new CoverageMap API!

The CoverageMap API lets businesses check how good cell service is at any address in the US.

Send up to 100 addresses or coordinates at once, and get back:

  • A simple 0 to 10 summary score

  • Coverage percentages

  • Signal strength

  • Crowdsourced data speeds

All of these metrics are available for AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon across LTE and 5G.

The CoverageMap API gives teams a data-driven way to determine the best carrier for every location on their list. It pairs what carriers report to the FCC with real-world cellular measurements from everyday users.

One Request, Every Location

The CoverageMap API is built around one batch REST endpoint. A single POST request can include up to 100 locations and returns one JSON response with every carrier and technology requested.

  • Coordinates and Addresses: Look up coverage by latitude and longitude pairs or by plain street addresses, and mix and match both in the same request

  • Carrier and Technology Selection: Choose AT&T, Verizon, or T-Mobile, and choose LTE, 5G, or both

  • Dataset Selection: Pick FCC coverage, user speed tests, summary scores, or any mix with a single field in the request body

  • Simple Setup: Sign up, create an API key, and send a first batch request in minutes

Three Datasets

All three datasets are available on every plan. You pick the data you want on each request:

  • Carrier Summary: Simple 0 to 10 scores that rank the carriers at each location for overall quality, performance, coverage and reliability. Each score even tells you whether it was measured from real speed tests or estimated.

  • FCC Coverage & Signal Strength: Signal strength in dBm at the location, plus average signal strength and how much of the area is covered within 0.5km, 1km and 2km radii around the point. Data is updated within 48 hours of every FCC release.

  • Crowdsourced Speed Tests: Real download, upload and latency results from CoverageMap users nearby, including how many tests were run and how many failed to connect.

You only pay for the data you ask for in each lookup. Every carrier and technology is included.

Who's It For?

We built the CoverageMap API to be affordable, flexible, and adaptable to your needs. It fits in to your existing workflows and systems.

Here are some use cases:

  • Home internet providers: Check an address before shipping a 5G router, and set it up on the fastest network before it arrives.

  • Medical alert companies: Put every device on the carrier most likely to connect when someone presses the button.

  • Utilities and IoT companies: Compare networks at remote power line and solar sites from the office, instead of sending someone out on the field.

  • Cities and counties: Pick the right carrier for buildings moving off copper landlines, and find the dead zones residents keep running into.

Work at a company that could use this? Forward this email to the right person on your team, or just hit reply and let me know what you’re building. We’d love to help.

Try It Free

The API comes with a free one-month trial with 500 units, and no credit card required.

After that, plans start at $49/month. Enterprise plans are available for bigger projects.

What's New: Full Feature List

  • One Batch REST Endpoint: Up to 100 locations per POST request, one JSON response

  • Coordinates and Addresses: Latitude/longitude pairs or street addresses, mixed as needed

  • The Three National Carriers: AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile across LTE and 5G, with regional carriers on Enterprise

  • FCC Coverage and Signal Strength: Signal in dBm at the exact point, plus signal and area covered within 0.5 km, 1 km, and 2 km

  • Measured Speeds: Crowdsourced latency, download, and upload numbers from real devices, with sample counts

  • Carrier Summary Scores: 0 to 10 overall, performance, coverage, and reliability ratings

  • Dataset Selection: Request only the datasets you need, and pay only for those

  • Usage-Based Billing: Units counted per location per dataset, with usage tracked in your dashboard

  • Caching Allowed: Persist and cache responses during your Pay-Per-Use or Enterprise subscription, following your license terms

  • Free Trial: One month, 500 units, no credit card required

We can't wait to see what you build!

Thanks,

Stetson

P.S. Every speed test you run makes our map, and now our API, more accurate. Download our free CoverageMap app to contribute and see the map. Thank you for being part of it.
